Pesticide residue analysis

As insects, fungi and animals are a constant threat to crop yields, the increased use of organic  pesticides seems inevitable. As organic pesticides can be hazardous to health, Maximum Residue Limits  (MRLs) are set at very low limits to avoid being toxic to humans and animals. Pesticides are often  applied to fruit and vegetables before and after harvesting. These residues can also be present in water  sources, via run-off from agricultural land.

Extensive experience in testing

RPS has extensive experience in testing for a huge range of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and other organic compounds. RPS  can also test for pesticide residue breakdown of produce, soil, water and other complex matrices.  Thanks to our state of the art accurate mass instrumentation we can easily provide analysis of breakdown products and metabolites to support investigations and research activities.

RPS regularly works with agrochemical companies to assist them in achieving registration of active ingredients used on crops.The  harvested crop is processed under controlled conditions post application and analysed on state-of-the-art instrumentation such  as LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS. RPS can offer low levels of detection (ppt) to suit your requirements and in line with European  Union Maximum Residue Limits EU-MRLs Regulation (EC) No 396/2005.

We can analyse for new and existing actives and supply a  detailed report with validation and breakdown curves suitable  for registration. RPS work to ISO 17025 quality standards and  hold UKAS Accreditation for a variety of active compounds /  chemicals such as Glyphosate & AMPA

UKAS flexible scope

RPS hold a flexible scope of accreditation for the analysis of pesticides in foods and crops, this enables the rapid validation of methods in line with SANCO guidelines to provide our customers with ISO 17025  accredited results for al their analysis requirements.
