Marine analysis

The importance of high quality results when analysing marine samples cannot be understated, especially as legislation continues to drive the requirement for lower analytical detection limits and to assess a wider range of often very complex environmental contaminants. Our laboratories have been working hard developing new methods of analysis to detect key compounds at extremely low levels in very challenging matrices using cutting edge instrumentation.

RPS participates in the Quasimeme marine performance testing scheme in line with OSPAR guidelines and holds UKAS accreditation for the analysis of marine sediments: all of which are a requirement for submission of marine licencing applications. We offer trace level analysis of sediments for contaminants to clients involved with marine dredging and disposal at sea, pre and post drilling surveys, wind farm, pipe line and other seabed pre & post-operative environmental studies.

The laboratories’ expertise is an important factor in ensuring that the quality of results can be relied upon for regulatory outputs. Our staff have deep expertise working within the marine industry in both government and commercial laboratories and guarantee the use of the most appropriate methods and techniques to achieve high quality results in realistic timeframes.

Marco Lattughi, Operational Director for RPS’ Bedford laboratory, has over 25 years of experience in the interpretation of data and the development of methods for the analysis of priority pollutants in the marine environment. Our expertise is important to ensure the quality and reliability of the results for the marine industry
