Aerial LiDAR and photogrammetry survey

Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) is method of mapping that allows high levels of detail to be recorded about topography, vegetation, buildings, infrastructure, and more.

Why choose LiDAR?

LiDAR benefits

LiDAR is cost-effective

Aerial LiDAR allows you to capture huge volumes of spatial information quickly – even over large distances and hard-to-access terrain. Our powerful scanner allows us to capture at an unprecedented level of detail, up to 60 points per square metre in a single swath.

LiDAR is flexible

Suitable for mapping small urban development lots, all the way through to broadacre land and densely forested areas, we deploy our survey aircraft and crew to capture LiDAR data from above to produce invaluable data and insights for your project. How your data is presented is up to you. We offer the full range of raw and processed data sets and derived products.

LiDAR is repeatable

Whether you are monitoring vegetation growth, urban development, or completing volume calculations, LiDAR allows you to develop baseline spatial data for monitoring change and comparing against over time. It offers the insights you need to make informed decisions.

LiDAR is safe

Aerial LiDAR can reduce time spent on the ground in difficult or hard-to-access terrain. From mountainous or densely forested areas, LiDAR reduces the risk and the time it takes to collect information about the land and resources you manage.

LiDAR is reliable

Aerial survey has come a long way since it first came to the Australian market. Today's aerial LiDAR sensors can collect data that is accurate to better than 15cm in most cases on hard, flat surfaces. Through flight planning, it can be customised for even higher accuracy. The full-waveform LiDAR data we collect at RPS can also give a highly detailed model of ground surfaces through thick vegetation. This allows for a level of accuracy in difficult terrain that is extremely difficult and expensive to achieve through other means.

Take your data to the next level with photogrammetry

Our LiDAR sensor contains an integrated medium format camera that allows us to capture aerial photography and LiDAR at the same time. When high levels of detail are required, we can design a UAV-based solution for your project incorporating high-definition aerial photography capture.
