Paddy Osmond
Business Stream Leader
Paddy has been working in the defence sector for over twenty years, with experience as a project Naval Architect on UK MoD ship procurement programmes, as well as safety and project management. After working in the MoD, Paddy moved into consultancy and on to lead the HP safety assurance team across their UK defence portfolio. At RPS, Paddy has operated in a variety of roles – all focused on leading a team of expert consultants for safety and technical assurance. He is the Business Stream Lead for maritime and UK defence.
Mark Mewett
Business Development Manager
Having worked in the aerospace and defence sector for 25 years, Mark has supported clients such as Bae, Babcock, Lockheed Martin, Martin Baker, Airbus and General Dynamics. He has experience working on Eurofighter, Challenger 2, F16, Foxhound, Ajax, MLRS and Mowag in his roles as project manager, account manager, business and development lead and area sales manager. He is currently Business Development Manager based in our Basingstoke office where he is expanding his knowledge in consulting and safety case and technical assurance.
Henry Priestley
Consultant
Since joining RPS as a graduate, Henry has worked on several maritime and air projects which has deepened his knowledge for developing safety assurance for a diverse range of equipment. He is part of the team reviewing equipment from SACC DT and also has knowledge and experience of APS DT and Ocean Infinity.

Case studies
Air
Experienced in conducting Independent Safety and Environmental Auditing across the aviation industry, we measure supplier organisations’ compliance with MoD policy and standards by conducting reviews of the safety argument and airworthiness strategy, the Safety and Environmental Case Reports and supporting evidence.
Land
We provided safety and environmental support in accordance with MoD policies to Artillery Systems Programme (Arty Sys), covering towed artillery, surveillance target acquisition, rockets and command, control, communications, computers and intelligence. By helping Arty Sys implement MoD policies and drive efficiency, they are now able to deliver much of this work in-house.
Sea
On behalf of The Maritime Combat Systems (MCS) DT, we provided Independent Safety and Environment Auditor (ISEA) services including audit of key project documents and of MCS teams’ safety and environmental management systems. We reviewed safety and environmental cases for ship and submarine equipment such as combat management systems, communication systems, remote operated vehicles and whole platform management systems and other such systems used across the whole Navy.
