Our Perth-based HSE & Risk Management team has a long history of supporting the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) in the development and application of its guidelines and conferences.
RPS Principal Consultants Wayne Bauer and Phil McKenzie have fostered this relationship in a bid to market RPS' skills and expertise along with an underlying desire to improve the quality of risk assessments and communication flow within the drilling industry.
Wayne has established himself within the IADC, initially through his role as a QHSE Manager for a large Drilling Contractor and more recently in his role with the RPS HSE & RM team, as a program committee member tasked with organising regional HSE conferences in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. In this role he has been presented with the opportunity to act as the Session Chairman at these conferences on a number of panel discussions as well being invited to present on HSE Management System Implementation and the relationship between BowTie Diagrams and HSE Cases.
Wayne's latest role with the IADC sees him working as a program committee member on the preparation of the IADC Drilling HSE&T Asia Pacific 2013 Conference & Exhibition which will take place on 3-4 April 2013 in Singapore where he will act as Session Chairman for a panel discussing a new initiative by Operators in the region called 'Smooth Operators.'
In addition to conferences the IADC has recently contacted Wayne and asked for RPS’ support in reviewing the IADC HSE Case Guidelines which are utilised extensively by RPS in its day to day operations. Wayne enlisted the support of Phil McKenzie to formulate a response on the key issues related to the existing guidelines based on the team’s experience with developing and submitting HSE Cases to the Australian Regulator NOPSEMA.
RPS has recently formalised its support of the IADC and its principles by applying to become, and being accepted as, an Associate Member.
