In addition to the fundraising, events, and other Legacy initiatives that our teams are involved in throughout the year, a select group of RPS consultants have taken on a new role in 2021, providing one-on-one career coaching to Legacy recipients.
Aimed at widows and children over the age of 18, Legacy recipients are matched with RPS volunteers who provide advice and support about work and career progression. Recipients have been matched with our people based on their areas of professional interest, their career objectives, and where they are based.
RPS’ Sydney-based Survey Business Development Manager, Greg Gearin says volunteering was a no-brainer.
“With a 40-year career as a business owner, surveyor and father, I felt I had a lot to offer from a mentoring perspective, in terms of both work and life experience,” Greg explains.
“I’m assisting my mentee to think about where they are today, where they would like to be with their career (and why), and how they think they might achieve that goal.
“I’m here to help them produce a plan of action, suggest resources they can tap into, and make sure they know that no matter what, they will be ok," said Greg.
RPS will continue to expand on the career mentoring component of our Legacy partnership, with more of our volunteers waiting to be matched with local Legacy recipients.
