Queensland Rugby Union brings Ballymore dreams to life with help from RPS

13 Oct 2020

RPS has been selected by Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) to provide project management, planning and landscape design services for the redevelopment of the iconic Ballymore training facility.

QRU’s vision is for a brand-new National Rugby Training Centre (NRTC), which will be the new national headquarters for women’s rugby and the national Wallaroos side, as well as the training base for the St. George Queensland Reds men’s and women’s sides, Reds Academy and the Queensland Academy of Sport Sevens program.

The project has completed is concept design and is in the schematic design phase with construction expected to begin in Quarter 2 of 2021. RPS is working closely with the QRU executive team, the Queensland Reds, architect Blight Raynor and others to deliver a world-class facility by the end of 2022.

“As a lifelong rugby fan and someone who has worked with QRU in the past, I’m really excited to see the organisation’s vision for Ballymore precinct starting to come to life,” said RPS Chief Executive Officer – Australia and Asia Pacific, Ross Thompson.

“RPS has worked extensively on sporting facility projects across Queensland and around the world, including the many of the 2018 Commonwealth Games venues, Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville, the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre and a whole host of other specialist sporting facilities.

“This kind of initiative is more than just a development project. It’s about delivering something that adds value for the community.

“We are glad to lend our expertise to a project that will add value for the community of Herston, the sporting communities of Queensland and the rugby community nationally,” Mr Thompson added.
