The scheme is a product of £400 million investment into Woolwich town centre to generate new homes, jobs, and work and leisure space. Plans were resubmitted following the revised status of the covered market into a Grade II listed asset in 2018.
We are providing project management and cost consultancy services to deliver the 801 new homes whilst ensuring that the heritage assets of the site are preserved, particularly the original 1936 lamella frame roof from the listed market. The vision is to use this distinctive roof as a focal point in forming an attractive and dynamic place to live and to visit.
Centred around a modern and sustainable design, the homes will be built to zero carbon standard and will use a low-temperature district energy network. Tenure options will include 158 affordable homes, 112 affordable rent and 46 shared ownership to suit a wide demographic.
To deliver this ambitious scheme, we’re collaborating with regeneration specialist St Modwen and Notting Hill Genesis, a high-quality housing provider for low income households in London and the South-East.
Set to breathe new life into the town centre, Woolwich Exchange will play a pivotal role in transforming this historic area of London into a vibrant community of sustainable homes and public space for residents and visitors to enjoy.
