RPS recently acquired HMA Land Services Ltd (16/08/2013) – a 90 person Canadian consultancy providing project management and land services for the energy industry – specialising in offering advice for pipeline, utility and major linear infrastructure projects including oil & gas pipelines, power transmission lines and telecommunication lines.
HMA was founded in 2001 and is based in Calgary with a branch office in Fort Saskatchewan. Field personnel are engaged in projects throughout Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan and Ontario. The company’s experience includes regional pipelines and pipelines for conventional and unconventional oil & gas export with projects including the Alaska Pipeline project, Enbridge Northern Gateway, the Keystone and Keystone XL Pipelines, TransCanada Coastal Gas Link and the TransMountain Pipeline.
“HMA Land Services Ltd is an important acquisition for RPS”, says Peter Mulholland, RPS President in North America “and one that will enhance RPS’ capabilities in the Canadian energy marketplace, specifically giving us presence and visibility in the mid-stream sector, where until now we have been unrepresented. HMA is also active in the utilities sector, with projects for electricity transmission lines and for telecoms. These are both very important growth areas in Canada, and new sectors for RPS, allowing us to further diversify our markets”
The acquisition further expands RPS’ business development in North America and provided us with an entry into a well-established and growing marketplace. Announcing the acquisition, RPS Chief Executive Alan Hearne said:
“The acquisition of HMA marks a further step in the development of our North American business. The pipeline development market is buoyant, with long term projects that require the types of skills and experience which RPS delivers to its clients around the world.”
In turn, HMA is benefitted with the addition of our environmental and other consultancy services to its existing service package.
