Ross Thompson

Ross Thompson CEO - Australia Asia Pacific

Ross works with the leaders of our operational teams to drive business efficiency, growth and success. After a career in the British military, Ross joined the corporate world in 2005 driving the development of leading professional services brands in Australia, the UK, Middle East and Asia Pacific. A proven expert in high growth business-to-business consultancy development, Ross joined RPS in 2017 following long-term appointments at ASX 200-listed engineering and environmental services firm, Cardno.

Ben Perry

Ben Perry Executive General Manager - Project Management

From his experience within both the Australian Department of Defence and private sector, Ben’s expertise in project and program management ranges from managing construction tasks on military operations to the delivery of major infrastructure projects. This experience, combined with his project expertise and communication skills, has enabled him to successfully manage large business teams and extremely complex capital works programs and major projects in the property, transport and defence and government services sectors.

Meegan Sullivan

Meegan Sullivan Executive Director - Strategic Development

Meegan is responsible for developing, communicating and coordinating plans and initiatives for the growth and success of RPS in Australia and Asia Pacific. She has over 20 years’ experience within the transport, water and defence and government services sectors. She has led, delivered and advised on projects including Western Sydney Airport, Melbourne Regional Rail Link and Sydney Desalination Plant and has also participated in leadership teams for several successful alliances over the last decade.

Michael Owens

Michael Owens Executive General Manager - Project Management

Michael leads RPS’ large project and program management business across Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand. He is a qualified engineer and project management leader with more than 15 years’ experience in developing and managing projects from early project inception, business case development, feasibility analysis, design management, procurement and administration, construction supervision and commissioning handover and takeover. He was awarded Australia Institute of Project Management Project Director of the Year for NSW in 2014.

Nick van Bronswijk

Nick van Bronswijk Executive General Manager - Project Approvals and Communications

Nick leads RPS' Project Approvals and Communications business across Australia, delivering communications and engagement, creative and immersive design, social advisory and research, and project strategy and evaluation services to high profile and complex projects. A project leader with over 15 years’ experience, Nick works closely with clients to successfully deliver projects across the transport sector, with a particular focus on major ports and aviation projects.

Rob Fields

Robert Fields Executive General Manager - Advisory Services

Robert leads RPS' Advisory Services business across Australia, delivering advisory and management consulting services. He has a background in civil engineering, business and commercial law with extensive local and international experience in major infrastructure and asset-intensive businesses. He provides leadership in strategic business planning and management, procurement and commercial advice to major publicly and privately funded infrastructure projects, operations and services, with sound experience spanning the transport, energy, water, resources and property sectors.

Rob Salisbury

Rob Salisbury Executive General Manager - Environment and Water

Rob leads RPS' Environment and Water business across Australia. He has over 20 years’ experience in leading strategic planning studies, environmental impacts assessments and environmental management systems for large and complex programs and projects in the water, transport, information and telecommunications and resources sectors. His leadership in environmental management was highlighted by his delivering the EMS for Beijing 2008 Olympic Games – the first Summer Olympic Games with an EMS certified against ISO 14001.

Susan Farr

Susan Farr Executive General Manager - Planning and Development

Susan leads RPS' Planning and Development business across Australia, partnering with our development and infrastructure clients to set up projects for success. Susan has over 25 years’ experience working in the property and infrastructure industry in strategic and commercial roles and has been at the forefront of innovation in sustainable water and energy solutions for development and infrastructure. She enjoys bringing different disciplines and stakeholders together to set the vision and objectives and works with teams to translate the vision into practical implementation.

Paul Aitken CEO - Services UK & Netherlands

Paul is a chartered engineer with 30 years’ experience in the utilities and environment sector in the UK and overseas. He is CEO of our Services UK and NL segment which consists of approximately 1,800 staff across our Water, Laboratories, Health and Hygiene businesses in the UK and our Property, Planning, Infrastructure and Laboratories businesses in the Netherlands. He is based in Edinburgh.

Frank Vrolijks Managing Director – Netherlands

As Managing Director of the Dutch business, Frank leads a great variety of activities by over 400 professionals, ranging from laboratory services, through survey to property management and flood-protection. Over the years he has lead the company to be a single entity with one style of operation that is widely recognised and appreciated by clients and staff. He believes in technology and data-analysis as the main differentiators changing the life and work of many engineers.

Heading up our laboratories and occupational health business in the UK, Jonathan has over 25 years’ experience in the consultancy sector. Jonathan leads a multi-disciplinary team of operational and sales professionals to develop and deliver our portfolio of services, in competitive markets. He is an energetic leader and plays an active role in client account management and developing new business; working with our specialist teams to achieve successful outcomes for our clients and cultivate lasting business relationships.

Rob Waters Director – Water Operations

Rob is a highly motivated manager with particular technical knowledge of water operations and team management in water companies, holding over 30 years’ experience. Rob is committed to maintaining the highest level of service to our clients through continual development of staff and processes and the appropriate integration of technology. He leads and directs the delivery of large, complex professional and technical services contracts with annual values up to £15million.

Steve Hogg Wastewater Consultancy Director

With 30 years’ experience in the UK water industry, Steve has built a reputation for the successful delivery of major water industry frameworks in the role of Framework Manager and Framework Director. Steve’s technical background covers all aspects of wastewater networks where he has worked on and led projects ranging from hydraulic modelling, Drainage Area Planning and Sewerage Management Planning through to project feasibility, design, construction supervision and contract administration. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer and member of the ICE.

John Chubb CEO - Consulting UK & Ireland

John has over 25 years’ experience in a broad range of engineering management roles, and for the past eight years has held leadership positions, including with Grontmij UK and Sweco Denmark also serving on their Executive Committees, whilst concurrently holding roles of Executive Chairman for Grontmij Sweden, and Grontmij UK. Chartered Engineer John is a former Royal Naval Commander and has further senior leadership experience in the nuclear, ICT, waste and energy sectors.

With over 25 years’ professional experience as a chartered architect, Alan leads our UK design offices providing design support across all sectors of the construction industry. Andy Young Strategic Development Director - Europe

A chartered civil and structural engineer, Andy has 30 years of experience working initially as a designer within a multi-disciplinary environment, before becoming an owner of a successful engineering and architectural business that was acquired by RPS in 2006. Since then Andy, has developed a strategic role within RPS, guiding strategy, business and client focus.

David Cowan Managing Director – Planning and Environment

A town planner with an environmental science background, David has over 30 years’ experience of planning across both property and infrastructure development. He has played key roles leading many of RPS’ major planning and EIA projects including new settlements, trunk roads, airport expansions, renewables and other energy sector developments. He has given evidence at a number of Public Inquiries and hearings, with wide ranging experience on Development Consent Orders.

Michael Shaw Managing Director - Northern Ireland

Michael is a dynamic and forward-thinking professional engineer with extensive expertise, specifically in maritime engineering for port and harbour, renewable energy and coastal management projects – receiving both the ICE Ferguson Medal and Miller Prize. As Managing Director for RPS in Northern Ireland, he takes a strategic oversight for all operations and projects, utilising his 35 years of experience and proven commercial leadership ability.

Gerry Carty Managing Director – Republic of Ireland

Gerry has led RPS in Ireland since 2012. Implementing a strategy focused on achievement of excellence and delivery of high quality services to clients, using best in practice technology and integrated cross discipline service delivery. He has been responsible for the delivery of a range of PPP projects; motorways, energy, educational, water, health, national and regional road projects from commencement to completion. Gerry is an Executive member and Vice President of ACEI. He was a member of the EPA Audit Committee and Chairman of CWIEM and the NHWPP. Gerry recently won the ACE 2018 European CEO of the Year Award.

Ian Thomason Managing Director - Building Services

Ian is an experienced building services engineering professional with over 34 years’ experience of working in consulting engineering. He was previously a full Equity Partner with R W Gregory prior to their acquisition by RPS and has over-arching responsibility for our UK-wide building services business. He has led RPS teams on numerous long-term frameworks and repeat business programmes of work in the higher education, healthcare, commercial, residential and media sectors.

She joined RPS from a senior managerial position with Deloitte and has a strong background in performance and project management.

Peter Fearn President and CEO - North America

Peter joined RPS in 2004 when his company was acquired by RPS. A geologist by profession, Peter spent 20 years working on a diverse range of technical projects in upstream oil and gas before moving into executive management. He has led the accelerated growth of the North America business since its establishment in 2004 and is now progressing the strategy for further expansion of our sectors and services in the region.

Doug Matthys Chief Operating Officer - NAM

Doug has spent the past two decades in various consulting, management and executive leadership roles with professional service firms. Educated as an Environmental Scientist, his areas of technical expertise include environmental compliance, permitting, and project management. Doug joined RPS in 2007 and has served in a number of senior positions in the US and Canada during his tenure. He is currently a member of the North America Leadership Team with responsibility for the Infrastructure business and the Shared Service functions.

Eoin is Director of Strategic Growth at RPS North America, containing three business units; Ocean Science & Technology, Environmental Risk and Infrastructure with offices across the U.S. and Canada. Kelly Knee Technical Director - Science and Technology

Kelly is a water resources engineer and geographic information systems (GIS) specialist, with a broad engineering and scientific background. She has created custom GIS solutions for a range of projects and integrating water quality models into ArcGIS. Her visualisations of coastal flooding have gained national attention and her coastal risk analyses have been used for both educational and engineering purposes.

Andy Kirchin Executive Vice President, Consulting and Training Business Units

Andy is a Geoscientist with international consulting experience and expert professional skills in geophysics and geodata analysis. He has led teams from our London offices for a number of years before moving to lead geoscience consultations from our Houston office in 2011. Throughout his career, Andy has retained a strong hands-on relationship with seismic interpretation and depth conversion.

Mark Houston Director – Strategic Development

Mark has over 20 years’ experience in the Energy sector with broad knowledge and understanding across multi-disciplinary subject matters and multi-site facilities. He joined RPS through acquisition in 2013 and is part of the Energy Leadership Team; responsible for the development and implementation of the strategic positioning in the Energy sector. He has significant strategic planning and implementation experience through commercial, contractual and process change. Mark brings commercial expertise in HSE and quality management throughout the Energy industry life cycle, supporting effective management through changing and challenging times.

Murray Burling

Murray Burling Managing Director Energy AAP

Murray has extensive experience as a consulting coastal engineer and marine modeller, undertaking multi-faceted studies in Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and the Middle East; and has managed the implementation of a number of web-based data and model applications.  He is an expert in large dataset analysis, visualisation and web-based delivery systems and has authored and co-authored many technical reports and publications.
