Queensland’s ‘cash for containers’ recycling scheme was launched in November 2018 with reports of almost 1.5 million plastic bottles and cans recycled for a 10c refund on the first weekend.
RPS has been working behind the scenes to prepare for the launch, engaged by reverse vending company TOMRA to project manage the delivery of ten drop-off locations across South East Queensland.
Overseeing the delivery of depots throughout Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and Ipswich, the project has been an exciting one for our Brisbane-based project management team, said Senior Project Manager Brendan McMahon.
"With so many sites to be delivered consecutively in different locations over such a short period of time, this was a pretty complex project in terms of logistics" he said "Despite the time pressure, we were able to go above and beyond to ensure quality value engineering, stakeholder management and delivery outcomes.
When you consider that the actual construction time-frame was just five weeks, I’m extremely proud of the way my team brought everyone together to deliver such an amazing outcome that’s already being embraced by the community."
