Taking a strategic step: expanding our permitting service delivery to the US offshore wind sector
Around the world the appetite to increase energy supplies from renewable sources continues to grow. And this is a sector with the potential capacity to create much-needed jobs, during and post COVID-19.
The offshore wind market is a strategic target for RPS. We employ some of the world’s leading talent in offshore wind, and today we welcome a new member. Richard (Rick) Zeroka has joined our environment team in Boston, Massachusetts, as the Director of Permitting - to lead, leverage and build this capability to enable us to continue successfully delivering for our offshore wind clients in this space.
Commenting on this appointment, Alun Williams, Director, Offshore Renewables said, “Appointing Rick is a strategic step in expanding our environmental offering across the Americas, early in the asset lifecycle. We’ve got a great team in the US, with a track record of providing high quality marine environmental advice to the offshore wind sector. We’ve also been providing permitting support to the offshore wind sector in Europe since the sector first emerged in the early 2000’s. Rick’s appointment enables us to deliver a complete permitting service to support the industry in the US, drawing on our existing capability and resource.”
Rick joins RPS at a time when the offshore wind market across the Americas is entering an exponential period of growth. His deep expertise in the States, managing permitting and outreach activities with stakeholders, state agencies and local governments, will be key to supporting developers to navigate a complex regulatory permitting process to realise their investment potential – and we are well positioned to support our clients in this area.
Upon joining RPS Rick commented, “I am genuinely pleased to be joining RPS and for the opportunity to lead and grow such a talented team. My knowledge and experience adds just another dimension that will strengthen our ability to deliver permitting projects for developers.”
