We are delighted to welcome Dong-Joo to RPS, where he will work alongside Country Manager Sam (Sangmok) Roh at our new office premises in central Seoul. Dong-Joo joins the team as EIA Manager, supporting the delivery of large-scale floating and fixed offshore wind farm projects across Korea and Asia more broadly.
Dong-Joo’s focus will be on coordination and delivery of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to meet international standards. With six years’ experience in project development and environmental/social risk management, he will support clients in assessing and managing environmental and social impacts, while ensuring project compliance.
Commenting on his new position with RPS, Dong-Joo says, “Korea is an exciting market to be working in as we strive to meet the goals of the government's Green New Deal. I look forward to getting to know my colleagues around the globe and understanding the solutions they deliver to meet the needs of this emerging and fast-growing market. I have gained valuable relevant experience over recent years and I am excited to bring this experience to RPS for its clients and their projects.”
Dong-Joo’s expertise includes work on Korean offshore wind project site selection, planning bird surveys, leading UXO-focussed site screening, and stakeholder engagement. He has provided strategic advice to international lenders and worked as environmental and social safeguard consultant to the Myanmar National Electrification Project, supporting the Ministry of Electricity and Energy and the World Bank.
Alun Williams, Global Offshore Renewables Director, says, “As we expand our team in South Korea and continue our work on some important projects here, Dong-Joo’s local and international knowledge will support our clients to minimise potential project risks. We are very pleased to have him on board as we take the next, exciting steps in the delivery of our Asia renewables strategy.”
