Jon is a Principal Consultant with our Commercial Fisheries team. He has more than 14 years' experience in this field, having been with Southern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority and then the Marine Management Organisation. With Southern IFCA, he worked closely with offshore wind developers as a Fisheries Liaison Officer. With the MMO, he was based in Brixham, one of England's busiest fishing ports, managing fisheries compliance and regulation. He was also involved in marine consents and licensing.
Jon has been with RPS since 2023, supporting offshore development projects including CCS and offshore wind. Some of his major projects include authoring the Fisheries Management and Mitigation Strategy for the Ossian Offshore Wind Array in North Scotland and assisting in the delivery of the Environmental Statement for the ENI CCS HyNet project in Liverpool Bay, England.
Jon's areas of expertise are commercial fisheries management, marine environment protection, complex project management, offshore maritime operations, risk management and practical marine science surveys.
Prior to his career in fisheries regulation and compliance and environmental assessment, Jon was a Senior Manager in the Civil Service and a former Royal Marine Commando. He went to university in his mid-40s, gaining a degree in Marine Biology and Oceanography and an MBA.
