Pearse Station

Irish Rail

Dublin, Ireland

RPS was appointed by Irish Rail to provide Consultancy Services for the upgrade of the existing power supply and associated ancillary works at Pearse Station in Dublin in 2007.

The project included the construction of a new ESB substation, built within the confines of an existing unused goods store, situated below the station administration offices. For construction to take place, removal of the existing timber column supports was required whilst the offices above were occupied. RPS designed new structural supports, freeing up clear space below for construction of the sub-station.

At platform level RPS provided structural and civil design expertise for the widening of two areas of the northbound platform and installation of ticket barriers. New ticketing machines were also installed on the southbound platform.

RPS provided design expertise for the demolition of an existing shop and the provision of revised structural support to the adjacent external entrance canopy. Floor levels and ramps in the main concourse were also adjusted to provide easier access to the station platform.

RPS also provided full Mechanical and Electrical design services on this project, which was successfully completed in Autumn 2008.
