Corrib Onshore Gas Pipeline

Shell E&P Ireland Ltd. (SEPIL)

The effective use of GIS by RPS was a key element in effectively communicating the project to members of the public and statutory bodies alike. GIS played an integral part in this multidisciplinary project to collate, manage, maintain and disseminate spatial information seamlessly.

The RPS GIS team was involved in the comprehensive spatial study of route selection and comparison of route corridors in the initial stages and subsequently supported the other disciplines in the following areas throughout the project life cycle:

Spatial data acquisition and management

Spatial analysis and mapping for the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)

Wayleave mapping for the Compulsory Acquisition Order (CAO) application

Developed a robust landownership database which allowed prompt access to crucial details especially for the site staff

Demographic and proximity analysis of the proposed route to support the safety review

Spatial analysis and mapping for the offshore licence application for geotechnical investigation

Environmental ecological surveys using differential GPS

Prepared specification and contract documentation for the aerial survey of the site and supervised the data acquisition

GIS support during the Oral Hearing
