Environmental Protection Agency EU Commission

This study focuses on the current construction and demolition waste management situation across Europe.

‘Resource Efficient Use of Mixed Waste’ is a new European Commission project, led by BIO by Deloitte in partnership with RPS, BRE, the Belgian-based Institute for Consultancy and Studies in Sustainable Development (ICEDD), VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and the Faculty of Science and Technology (FCT) of NOVA University Lisbon.

The particular focus of the study is on Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW) and it will run until April 2016. The study aims to investigate the current CDW management situation in EU Member States, identifying obstacles to recycling and potential deficiencies that could lead to non-compliance with EU waste legislation. RPS is covering CDW management in Ireland and providing input in relation to the assessment of CDW statistics and identification of good practice related to creating conditions for a sustainable management of CDW.
