National Gas Infrastructure - Gas 2025 Study
Bord Gáis Éireann
RPS, in partnership with Sofregaz and JP Kenny, undertook a technical feasibility study to identify all options available to Bord Gáis Éireann, for the provision of additional gas transportation capacity to Ireland and to open up new markets within Ireland. Options included new gas interconnectors to Scotland, Wales and France and duplication of the Cork Dublin Gas Pipeline via Galway (Gas Pipeline to the West), a new South North Gas Pipeline, an LNG terminal in Foynes or Cork Harbour and a link to the newly discovered Corrib field.
The scope of work included the sizing of facilities to meet forecasted gas demands (4 scenarios) up to the year 2025, determination of capital and operating expenditure, identification of optimal phasing to match growth in gas demand and economic evaluation. This initial feasibility study lead to a Preliminary Engineering Study considering the technical and implementation challenges for each of the options considered.
