Our Analytical Services division offers a wide range of analytical services, providing expert advice and tailored solutions to a breadth of industries and service sectors globally.
Our UK and Dutch laboratories’ certifications include UKAS 1663, 0605 and 7687, and MCERTS accreditation and work to ISO 17025 international quality standards. We further participate in external laboratory proficiency schemes including WASP, Aquacheck, STACKS, UK NEQAS, FAPAS, RTC, AQS and Quasimeme Marine Performance Testing Scheme amongst others. We have four European laboratories as well as operating latest technology mobile lab vans.
RPS laboratories have an international reputation for solving complex and novel analytical problems within tight timescales and staff boast a wealth of industry experience and expertise, together with a commitment to provide the highest levels of customer service.
We have a host of capabilities using the latest analytical techniques with especial expertise in trace and ultra-trace analysis of contaminants in water, wastewater, food, animal feeds, and soil; and explosives and propellants analysis. Our Dutch laboratories are specially equipped for sensitive air analysis and our expertise was called upon after the Moerdijk chemical explosion and for critical asbestos analysis after the Roermond marina fire. Our laboratories are equipped with state of the art instrumentation which allows rapid and accurate delivery of results with the utmost confidence, including LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS. Therefore RPS can offer ultra-low limits of detection to suit even the most difficult requirements.
Our range of analytical services includes (and a few interesting facts):
Pesticide, insecticide residues, glyphosate & AMPA analysis – the herbicide glyphosate is widely used and is barely diluted by water or photodecomposition. Accepted glyphosate levels outside Europe are much higher – affecting cereal and pulse imports. Our in-house developed technique can detect it and resultant AMPA at levels as low as 10 µg/kg.
Food, feed, grains and acrylamide – PCBs, Bisphenol A and PAHs but also anions and cations in beer, methanol content in vodka and levels of quinine in tonic water amongst many other chemicals.
Explosives & chemical weapons residue analysis – besides our licence to acquire explosives for controlled analysis, our labs have a FERA licence to allow us to test soil and plant material from outside Europe which may be contaminated from chemical weapon disposal or activity sometimes going back as far as WWI.
PFOS & PFAS – Ours was the first UK lab accredited for PFOS analysis. Imagine a single tiny drop of PFO in a reservoir the size of 44 Olympic swimming pools, or 0.09ng/L – our labs can detect PFOS at this minute level.
