Sydney Rapid Transit (SRT) is a major new rail project that will increase the size and capacity of Sydney’s rail network by delivering a new rapid transit line under Sydney Harbour, through the CBD and on to Bankstown.
SRT will provide a 60 per cent increase in the number of trains in the peak, catering for an extra 100,000 customers per hour across the network. Once complete, the project will deliver a new fast, safe and frequent automated rapid transit all the way between Rouse Hill and Bankstown.
RPS is managing the strategic options assessment process for the project, which includes completing complex transport and patronage modelling. The transport and patronage data has assisted the project team develop and assess options for the new rapid transit line and develop the preliminary business case. RPS is aiming to present the final business case in early 2015.
