Sunrise at 1770 is a mixed use development comprising residential subdivision, community recreational facilities and extensive recreational areas.
The site is located on the coast at Agnes Water, north of Bundaberg and is surrounded by pristine National Park wetland and fore-dune areas. The project was a finalist in the inaugural 2006 EPA Sustainability Awards and has been recognised as a paradigm for integration of environmentally sustainable solutions across all facets of civil, architectural and landscape architectural design.
Stormwater runoff from roads, car parks, roofs and other hard surface areas is managed entirely through overland flow swale systems and sedimentation areas which also act as recreational opportunities and environmental rehabilitation areas. A palette of finishes was developed which focuses on the use of locally sourced sustainable materials and recycled materials in the design concept.
The overall result is a development which blends beautifully with the local environment and is heralded as a leader in the use of sustainable design outcomes.
