RPS was engaged to manage and guide the environmental assessment approvals process for the development of the Faculty of Business at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), designed by world renowned architect, Frank Gehry.
The building named the Dr Chau Chak Wing Building after the business leader who donated $25 million to UTS is Gehry’s first in Australia and one of Sydney’s most recent icons.
RPS’ role in the project involved the identification of appropriate scopes of work for, and the management of, a large team of multi-disciplinary consultants, the review of technical assessment reports, liaison between the environment and design teams to address environmental issues arising, as well as design development and the preparation of the required planning reports.
The design of the building was particularly complex and required close consultation with Department of Planning and Infrastructure and City of Sydney to gain approval.
