RPS would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we meet and work, and pay respect to Elders past and present.
As Australia marks National Reconciliation Week (27 May-3 June 2018) RPS teams across the country have come together to acknowledge, learn and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions.
Our Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group has developed an updated Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) for submission to Reconciliation Australia–the country’s peak body for a just, equitable and reconciled nation.
Our new RAP builds on RPS’ existing Action Plan and follows Reconciliation Australia’s ‘Innovate’ framework. It outlines actions that will help us achieve our vision for reconciliation while developing and strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, engaging staff and stakeholders in reconciliation, developing and piloting innovative strategies to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Empowerment is the theme behind another exciting announcement for RPS – a new corporate partnership with Indigenous education organisation Yalari.
Yalari is a not-for-profit organisation that offers quality secondary education scholarships at leading Australian boarding schools for Indigenous children from regional, rural and remote communities. Since 2005, Yalari has been providing these kids with the opportunity to receive a full boarding school scholarship for their entire secondary education.
This year Yalari has selected a Queensland student that RPS will support to live and attend school in Brisbane, and we are currently engaging with the team to determine other ways that RPS can support Yalari and its mission, such as work experience opportunities with us and more.
We look forward to sharing our Reconciliation Action Plan and more stories about our work with Yalari soon!
