2017 a winning year for RPS projects in Western Australia

2017 a winning year for RPS projects in Western Australia

RPS has proved a common denominator in the success of four Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) award-winning projects in Western Australia this year.

The big winner of Saturday night's award ceremony was Ellenbrook, the vibrant, well-established community delivered by leading property developer LWP Property Group, which won the most prestigious recognition awarded by UDIA in WA - the 'Russel Perry Award for Urban Development Excellence', together with the 'Masterplanned Development' Award. RPS has been involved as a lead environmental services consultant to this multi-award winning project for decades.

Alkimos BeachThe Playground at Coolbellup, and Elizabeth Quay also received UDIA Awards at Saturday's event.

RPS Business Director, Environment - Land & Infrastructure, Steve Rolls, said his team was incredibly honoured to provide consultancy services to such outstanding projects.

“We are proud of all our clients and their project achievements, but in particular to be associated with LWP Property Group’s Ellenbrook project for the past 20 years. To win the Russel Perry Award is very special for our team,” Mr Rolls said.

    2017 Award Winners

The Swan Valley Ellenbrook project won the 'Masterplanned Development' Award and was judged to be the best of the best in 2017 winning the 'Russel Perry Award for Urban Development Excellence'. RPS was responsible for all environmental approvals and management of the Lexia Conservation Reserve, Southern Creek foreshore, priority flora species and Acid Sulfate Soil management on behalf of LWP Property.

Development partners LandCorp and Lendlease had a double win with Alkimos Beach winning the 'Residential Development Over 250 Lots' Award, and The Playground at Coolbellup taking out the 'Residential Development Under 250 Lots' Award. RPS managed the environmental approvals and coastal management plan for the Alkimos Beach project, laying the groundwork for the achievement of multiple sustainability accreditations including a 6 Star Green Star – Communities certification.

Our team was the lead planning and environmental consultant for infill project, The Playground, one of three former primary school sites at Coolbellup including the UDIA award-winning ‘The Primary’  and recently commenced 'The Assembly' development. Our Perth-based Planning team provided town planning, urban design and approval services, while our Environment and Water specialists offered valuable advice to support best practice environmental management and remediation on this highly sensitive urban infill site.

Elizabeth Quay was awarded 'Urban Renewal' category honours, with RPS working across all phases of this iconic project's delivery, including initial design and feasibility, detailed Structure Plan design, and all site environmental investigations and approvals.
