Climate Change
There is consensus, approaching unanimity that the world is warming and that greenhouse gasses emitted by man are the main cause. The need to act on reducing these greenhouse gas emissions is clear, and the indications are that early, decisive reductions are both essential and affordable.
RPS is committed to reducing our own emissions significantly. We have set ourselves the target of a 5% reduction per person per year. If successful we will halve our per capita energy usage by 2020.
We are also extensively engaged in helping our clients deliver a low-carbon future. Across the RPS Group we are involved in planning and designing for new low-carbon homes and commercial buildings. We are the UK’s largest advisors for onshore and offshore wind and tidal generation. We provide extensive practical advice on energy efficiency, renewables and sustainable transport. RPS scientists are also engaged in key new technologies that may help reduce carbon emissions, such as Carbon Storage. Our Ecology, Hydrology, Flood Risk Assessment and Coastal Engineering teams are at the forefront of adaptation strategies.
