Pinpoint technology system saves 175 hours per week for water leakage detection. Following the new innovation in tackling water leaks that RPS has been using to assist clients in closely identifying and mapping leak sources, the new 'Pinpoint' technology has saved around 175 hours each week in travel time for the 35 engineers using it. The system was developed by eSAY for RPS Water to carry out leakage detection for United Utilities, and means engineers are able to file real-time leakage reports using GPS and GPRS hand-held tools wherever they attend. The pilot scheme was carried out in the north-west of England with very impressive results in terms of efficiency, and time and money saved. The technology is now likely to be used across the whole of the north-west with up to 100 new devices to be issued.

The effectiveness of the system being used by RPS for United Utilities has impressed other water providers, and Anglian Water has now committed to an initial project using the Pinpoint system.
