Fanad Bridge/Mulroy Bay Bridge
(Donegal)
Approval for such a bridge in a European designated Special Area of Conservation (SAC), a European designated National Heritage Area (NHA), and a national designated Area of Outstanding Beauty demanded input from almost every discipline within RPS and stretched their expertise to new levels.
RPS were appointed by Donegal County Council and instructed to proceed in January 2002 to carry out Topographical and Seabed Surveys and Site Investigations; Preliminary Design; Environmental Impact Assessment and Statement; Land Acquisition Maps & Schedules; Detailed Design; and Construction Supervision for the proposed bridge.
An Taoiseach, Mr. Bertie Ahern, turned the sod on the project on 29th March 2007 marking the beginning of the construction stage.
