Fanad Bridge/Mulroy Bay Bridge
(Donegal)
When constructed, the Fanad Bridge or Mulroy Bay Bridge will have an enormous impact not only on North Donegal, but on the county as a whole. It will be the largest in the county and will serve to connect the Rosguill and Fanad peninsulas.
This will have a major impact on people’s every day lives by substantially reducing travelling time and making every day services such as shops and schools much more accessible. There is no doubt that the development of this €17.5 million project will also have a huge impact on the tourist industry in Donegal. With the completion of the Mulroy Bay Bridge project, we will see one of the most beautiful parts of the island opened up to the tourist market.
The landmark bridge will be a high level multi-span construction over the Mulroy Bay sea estuary, with an overall length of 350 metres, a span over the shipping channel of 100 metres, and a clearance height for shipping of 20 metres.
