Corrib Gas Pipeline Project
In January 2007 RPS were awarded the overall consultancy contract for the onshore Corrib gas pipeline in County Mayo. Working in partnership with Shell Exploration & Production Ireland Limited, RPS identified a modified pipeline route having considered a substantial number of alternatives in community, environmental and technical terms. A local RPS consultation office was set up in Belmullet to inform ongoing engagement with the local community.
The scope of the contract includes a full range of technical services to the Corrib Gas Partners – Shell, Statoil & Marathon – for the rerouting, planning, environmental assessment, permitting and construction management of the onshore pipeline from the landfall point to the reception terminal.
In summer 2008, statutory planning applications were made to An Bórd Pleanála and the Minister for Communications, Energy & Natural Resources. Site investigations and other surveys to inform construction methodologies are already under way along the pipeline route.
