A1/N1 Cross Border Road Project
RPS worked with the client Northroute JV, the employer Louth County Council and Roads Service Northern Ireland to progress and certify the detailed design and construction, whilst complying with statutory obligations and legal requirements within Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
The project used a form of contract known as "target pricing". This ECC Option C Target Cost contract with an activity schedule meant that the early stages of the project involved RPS working with the client to develop ‘value engineering’ design solutions to reduce construction costs. RPS has endeavoured throughout the design process to keep ahead of the construction programme and the road was officially opened by Dermot Ahern TD, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Conor Murphy MP, Minister for Regional Development on 2nd August 2007. Martin Mc Guinness, MP and Deputy First Minister also attended the ceremony.
