Market Development Group for Waste Resources
The Programme sets out a five year blueprint for investment in recycling processes and markets, including technical aspects, communications, and research and development. As well as material-specific projects, the MDG will provide seed funding to support new recycling concepts, and will encourage innovation and partnership among the stakeholders.
Green procurement will form part of the overall strategy.
n April 2007 the Government committed €11 million from the Environment Fund to allow the Market Development Group to put into place the necessary structures to manage the programme and deliver the 35 individual projects recommended in the report. With the investment and programme in place the next five years will hopefully push forward Ireland’s recycling markets and further improve our self-sufficiency.
