Phil Williams graduated from Bath University in 1975 and was awarded a doctorate in geophysics in 1978. After a period working in the oil and gas and defence sectors he became Managing Director of Hydrosearch in 1983.

He joined RPS when Hydrosearch was acquired in September 2003 and was appointed to the Board in December 2005. He lives in Surrey.
