RPS in Britain
Energy
The need for diversity of energy supply and the way we generate and use energy has become a political priority in the UK. Diminished oil and gas reserves, the demise of coal and nuclear power stations as viable sources of energy, and the soaring costs of energy over the last 5 years, have forced business and Government to focus on the planning and development of UK’s energy infrastructure and the implementation of policy to affect urgent responses to climate change and carbon footprinting.
RPS recognizes that the commercial viability of new business opportunities lies in encouraging new and cleaner forms of de/centralized energy production, distribution and renewables. Decentralised energy is about the reduction of carbon by using heat and electricity at a local level. This includes microgeneration, district heating schemes, combined heat and power and biomass fuelled heating at community and industry scale.
RPS expertise lies in the ability to advise on M& E and Civil Engineering requirements to confirm feasibility, specification and layout of power facilities, and also in providing planning and EIA services in new mixed-used developments, hospitals and schools, and in energy- intensive industries and waste sectors. RPS is already an established market leader in renewables providing planning and EIA services for onshore and offshore wind farms working alongside RPS Energy.
