Environmental Management Systems (EMS)

Whilst the internationally-recognised environmental management standard ISO 14001:2004 is not new, Government agencies, planning authorities and other organisations are increasingly expecting companies to prove their commitment to environmental management, particularly with Tender documentation. RPS offers all the services necessary to successfully implement an EMS, which is an effective way to demonstrate such commitment.

We have successful experience implementing effective Management Systems with clients in a complete range of industries.We undertake a Gap Analysis against the requirements of a certified EMS to determine which aspects are already satisfied and where further work is necessary. During the planning and implementation phases we can conduct bespoke risk assessments to identify and prioritise the significant environmental aspects and impacts, and create a register to assist in the identification of relevant legislation.

RPS produces documented procedures to satisfy the requirements of the Standard, and can update any existing procedures where necessary. We can also assist in developing an action plan with suitable objectives, to help with business efficiency and demonstrate the key feature of the EMS - continuous improvement.

Once the system is operational, RPS regularly assists clients with ongoing implementation and improvement, through a programme of internal audits to test compliance, and through awareness raising training to meet the needs of individual organisations.
