Workplace Exposure Monitoring

Workplace exposure monitoring aims to recognise, evaluate and minimise the risk of operative ill health from hazardous substances in the workplace.

The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002 place a duty on employers to undertake assessments to evaluate the risks to health when using hazardous substances in the workplace.

Exposure to hazardous substances can have detrimental effects on employee health and may result in contracting various diseases, including skin irritation, respiratory complications and terminal illnesses.

The results of workplace monitoring will highlight exposure to hazardous substances and assess the effectiveness of existing control measures, such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The results are evaluated against prescribed Workplace Exposure Limits and can be interpreted to determine any improvements and supplementary control measures.

RPS has extensive experience in a wide range of industrial environments and can undertake a wide variety of monitoring assessments using modern and up to date sampling methodology and equipment. We can also advise on the effectiveness of control measures and the implementation of new systems.
