IPPC Applications and Improvement Conditions
On 1st August 2000, the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) regime came into force under the Pollution Prevention and Control (England and Wales) Regulations 2000, SI 2000/1973 (as amended). The PPC Regulations apply to industry sectors for energy, metals, minerals, chemicals, waste management, food production and intensive farming of pigs and poultry.
The Regulations require specified industrial operators to gain a PPC Permit. The main document required to obtain a permit is the Application Form which is some 80 pages. Supporting documents are also required including the Application Site Report; H1 emissions database; a BAT assessment of the installation and the EP-OPRA spreadsheet.
RPS can help clients through this complex and time consuming process, and provide different levels of support, that will often start with a gap analysis.
Once a PPC permit has been granted there are often Improvement Conditions (ICs) to be completed, for example, site closure reports and accident, odour noise and fugitive management plans. RPS can help with these specific items and has PPC installations IC programme project management experience.
