RPS in Ireland
Environmental Liability Directive
The Environmental Liability Directive (2004/35/EC) implements the “polluter pays principle” and places considerable financial implications on organisations involved in the manufacturing and waste management sectors.
RPS has advised the EPA in relation to the assessment and management of environmental liabilities through the preparation of guidance on environmental liability risk assessment (ELRA), residual management plans (RMP) and financial provision. We are also currently preparing guidance on the Environmental Liability Directive with the EPA.
We have also assisted a wide range of organisations fulfil their obligations and reduce their overall risk of causing environmental damage in the first instance through the use of vigorous environmental risk assessment and mitigation.
Some recent projects include:
Port of Cork ELRA
Novartis ELRA, RMP & Aspects Review
Ballynacarrick ELRA for Donegal County Council
Swords Laboratories ELRA & RMP
