Jury’s Hotel & Berkeley Court Hotel - Site Redevelopment

RPS is part of an international multi-disciplinary team responsible for the preparation of this large scale, high-density mixed-use development project in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. The proposed development on a 7-acre site will provide a new urban quarter on the edge of the city's central business district. The scheme was designed by Henning Larsen Architects of Denmark following an architectural competition, for which RPS were members of the international jury.

The plan is a mixed use development combining a multitude of facilities for the area including apartments, street-based retail, an underground mall, an embassy complex, an office block, a 232 bedroom luxury hotel, an ice rink, a crèche and a cultural quarter. The plan is arranged in eight separate buildings along a new street and civic plaza and the buildings are generally 10-12 storeys in height - it also includes a controversial new landmark 37-storey residential tower standing 132 metres, sculpted like a diamond.

Since early 2006, RPS has been providing the following services on the project:

Provision of planning advice and development appraisal

Preparation and submission of planning application

Negotiations with the planning authority and other relevant statutory and non-statutory agencies

Environmental, Retail, Housing Quality and Town Planning Assessments and Impact Statements

The planning authority has granted planning permission for a modified development. The scheme is currently on planning appeal.
