RPS Britain Planning & Development

Energy

The way that energy is generated and consumed has become a political priority in the UK. A range of factors have pushed the Government to implement policies that address climate change, decentralised energy generation and efficiency is at the forefront of UK and EU policy, energy used in new and existing buildings is particularly scrutinised, and business is focussing on the planning and development of the UK’s energy infrastructure.

RPS is an established market leader in the development of energy and carbon strategies, encouraging new and cleaner forms of decentralised energy production and distribution. We find commercial solutions for our clients that take account of space, cost, structural implications and visual impact. We can review integrated infrastructure solutions and cross-funding options to limit risk and future-proof client assets from changing policy and occupier expectations. We also advise on nationally significant energy schemes and large scale transport infrastructure projects, such as Liquid Natural Gas (LND) importation and storage, airport development, underground gas storage, and onshore and offshore windfarms.

We are long-standing experts in renewables, and our advice and design clearly indicates how energy consumption, and carbon can be reduced by producing heat and electricity at a local level. RPS services include micro-generation, district heating schemes, combined heat and power and biomass-fuelled heating at community and industry scale.

RPS can advise on mechanical and electrical and civil engineering requirements. This may involve feasibility, specification and layout of power facilities. It could also include planning and EIA services in new, mixed-used developments, hospitals and schools, as well as in energy-intensive industries and waste sectors.
