The Braid Museum and Arts Centre
in Ballymena, Northern Ireland,
was overall winner of the Royal
Institute of Chartered Surveyors
2009 Awards for Excellence in the
Built Environment as well as winning
the individual category for Building
Conservation.
RPS received the Best Supporting Role
Award 2009 from the Industrial Agents
Society in recognition of the company’s
achievements on designing industrial
buildings and distribution centres
over the last 27 years including the
successful delivery of more than 150
projects for Gist, over 500,000m² of
facilities for Sainsbury’s, and four global
air cargo hubs for DHL.
Justin Vandenbrink is starting his 2nd
year as the Chairman of the International
Explorationists Group, part of the
Houston Geological Society – the world’s
largest ‘local’ geological society. In
recognition of his volunteer efforts, Justin
was awarded the 2009 Rising Star Award
for outstanding leadership.
Brisbane’s 2.5 ha Northshore Riverside
Park recently won two prestigious design
awards for Conics.
The awards were the Parks and Leisure
Australia 2009 Special Award for
Integration of Play in Quality Public
Open Space and the Australian Institute
of Landscape Architects (Queensland
Branch) Excellence in Design Award.
RPS employee Patrick Hollingworth
successfully scaled mount Cho Oyu, at
8,201m it is the 6th highest mountain
in the world. The mountain sits on the
Nepal/Tibet border, just to the west of
Everest. The climb took 4 weeks with the
actual summit bid taking 5 days.
