RPS is the statutory planning consultant to Stockland, the master developer of the Kawana Master Planning Area as identified by Sunshine Coast Regional Council. RPS is responsible for working with Stockland, Council, State Government and a diverse team of development professionals to implement the RPS-drafted statutory planning documents which direct the future land uses and development parameters for the emerging Kawana Master Plan precincts.
An important achievement in the realisation of the development of the Kawana Master Planning Area has been the approval by Sunshine Coast Council and the Queensland Government of the RPS-authored master plan. This master plan directs the development of the Kawana Health Hub, a fully integrated community, business and tourism development that will bring $5.3 billion to the Coast over the next 15 years.
The Health Hub precinct master plan application lodged by RPS’ Sunshine Coast office on behalf of Stockland caters for up to 35,000m2 of new commercial premises and 840 new dwellings, supported by substantial community facilities and public infrastructure provisions. The Health Hub will complement and support the State Government funded Sunshine Coast University Hospital and the Ramsay Health Private Hospitals and provide the catalyst for future commercial investment in the region. As an example of the forms of development emerging in the health Hub, RPS assisted Stockland and a third party developer in obtaining Master Plan approval for a multi-deck car park capable of accommodating up to 580 cars. Other approvals include an 80 room Best Western Motel and two commercial buildings that will collectively provide over 14,000m2 of gross floor area for commercial, retail and health-allied uses adjacent to the public and private hospitals.
