Margaret River Perimeter Road Impact Study, WA

Margaret River Perimeter Road Impact Study, WA

RPS was engaged by the Shire of Augusta Margaret River to undertake an evaluation of the economic and social impacts of the Margaret River Perimeter Road project for input into a funding submission. The project involves construction of 5.2 km of road north from Rosa Road to Bussell Highway, north of Margaret River townsite, and will allow heavy vehicles to bypass the town centre.

RPS undertook assessments to help understand the impact of the Perimeter Road on the local community and industry, tourism and State economy. A full cost benefit analysis was undertaken in line with State Government requirements and a qualitative social impact study assessed the non-market impacts of the project.

In December 2015, $58.26 million funding was allocated from the Royalties for Regions-funded Growing our South initiative to complete the Margaret River Perimeter Road.
