Musgrave Distribution Group
RPS was appointed by Musgrave Group for the design and site support of a new 282,000 sq.ft. warehouse facility for dry-goods storage.
The works involved the construction of a new 3 bay portal steel framed warehouse for dry-goods storage for the Musgrave Group on a 20 acre greenfield site at Boycetown, Kilcock. The complete scheme entails 282,000 sq.ft. of warehouse facility. The project was completed in two phases, phase 1 consisted of 150,000sq.ft of warehouse, 2 storey office block, ancillary offices, services housing, a vehicle maintenance building and an automated truck wash.
The contract also included the construction of a concrete ring road and a car park. Following on from the successful completion of the Phase 1 works in 2005, Musgrave appointed RPS as designers for the Phase 2 expansion in 2008. The 132,500 sq.ft. extension was completed on programme without a single disruption to the existing operations. This is despite the fact that the entire back wall of the building had to be demolished just 1.2 metres away from their storage and distribution aisles, as well as tying in to existing services such as sprinkler systems, fire alarms etc.
RPS was responsible for the mechanical, electrical,
sprinkler, civil/structural and architectural design.
