Technical Consultant for Biomass Processing Challenge Fund for Northern Ireland
Department of Agriculture, Northern Ireland
Technical consultants to Climate Change and Renewable Energy Branch of Northern Ireland’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) on Biomass Processing Challenge Fund
In 2010, RPS was appointed as technical consultant for the Climate Change and Renewable Energy Branch of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) of Northern Ireland on their Biomass Processing Challenge Fund. This fund was managed under the European Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland 2007-2013 and was open to applicants throughout Northern Ireland. RPS was responsible for technical and economic assessment of projects seeking to be funded across a broad range of biomass and anaerobic technology processes. We were also responsible for verification during construction with a number of projects completed and others at an advanced stage of completion.
Having successfully completed Phase 1, we were appointed to Phase 2 in 2012. This project has built on previous RPS experience in managing the New Technologies Demonstrator Programme (£28million) for biowaste for DEFRA UK and acting as expert advisor to the SEAI while their Biomass and AD CHP programme was live. The above projects complement our role in delivering large scale waste to energy, biomass and AD projects for private developers and feed critical marketplace data to our specialists during the delivery of due diligence exercises for investors.
