Air Conditioning Surveys
The Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations requires the regular inspection of all air conditioning systems with a rated output over 12kW. The inspections should be carried our by an accredited assessor at least once every five years. RPS accredited building service engineers are ideally suited to help and advise clients by providing recommendations to improve efficiencies and reduce operational costs of inefficient plant and systems.

Display Energy Certificates
Display Energy Certificates are required for public buildings. RPS has a team of qualified assessors who can provide this documentation.
Energy Performance Certificates
RPS undertakes energy performance certification for a wide range of buildings in the healthcare, education, retail, public, commercial and industrial sectors. Our service covers all levels of certification and can also include detailed energy efficiency advice to reduce CO2 emissions. Our assessors have expertise in building services design and operation – and can therefore provide practical advice on energy saving measures.
Advice on Grants & Incentives
A range of grants and other incentives exist to encourage investment into low and zero carbon technologies (e.g. Feed-in Tariffs, Renewables Obligation Certificates, Enhanced Capital Allowances). RPS can advise as to the applicability of such schemes.
Integrated Renewable Technology Solutions
RPS has wide expertise in renewable energy and offers specialists in a range of renewables technologies including wind, photovoltaics, solar thermal, biomass and energy from waste. RPS provides advice to ensure that carbon savings are maximised for minimal cost.
Mechanical & Electrical Design Advice

Planning Stage Energy Strategy
Energy strategies are typically required in support of planning applications to demonstrate how a proposed scheme intends to minimise its energy consumption and carbon emissions. RPS supports clients with the production of these strategies.
SAP / SBEM
Detailed energy modelling is required for compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations. RPS has qualified staff to undertake these assessments.
Sustainable Building Design & Operation
Energy is a key component of the sustainable design and operation of buildings. RPS is a licensed Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM assessor organisation with a number of qualified assessors. Our practical experience enables us to work with developers, housing associations, architects and design teams to blend the requirements of the assessment schemes with practical and cost effective solutions. Because RPS has an extensive network of offices with integrated planning, design and M&E capabilities, we are uniquely placed to advise clients on the local application of the schemes. Together with our experience and strong capabilities in terms of onsite renewable energy, this ensures our advice is both practical and sensitive to the regional variations of priorities and approaches.
