Transform Bunbury Waterfront Stage 1 and 2 Business Case, WA

RPS was engaged by the South West Development Commission to prepare the business case and Royalties for Regions funding submission for Stage 1 for the Transform Bunbury's Waterfront (TBW) projects. This includes the redevelopment of the Dolphin Discovery Centre and revitalisation of Koombana Bay including enhancement of the footbridge across the Koombana Cut.

RPS also prepared the economic and social impact assessment technical report to inform the development of a business case for Stage 2 of the TBW project, including the development of Casuarina Drive and the Jetty Road causeway.

The 2016-17 State budget committed $24.9 million through Royalties for Regions for the first stage of transforming the waterfront. Shortly after the Stage 1 announcement, the project received $20.73 million of Royalties for Regions investment for the second stage of Bunbury waterfront.  The project includes establishing amenities along Casuarina Harbour and infrastructure services to the planned mixed use marine precinct and along Jetty Road.

The funding will assist in growing Bunbury’s contribution to State tourism; fast track the development of the region’s marine industry and create a significant new residential and mixed use development precinct on the water front.

RPS' Landscape Architecture team prepared the Koombana Bay Foreshore Masterplan which identified a number of upgrades and new facilities which will aim to create an attractive tourism, hospitality and social asset for the Bunbury Waterfront.

RPS’ Environment team has also provided a gap analysis, a project referral to the Environmental Project Authority (EPA), and is currently preparing the environmental assessment documentation for the project, a Public Environmental Review.
