RPS was engaged by Mater Health Services to undertake detailed modelling of private hospital demand in the Springfield area. This included detailed age-specific, affliction-based modelling of same-day and overnight separations to estimate current and future hospital bed demand. The modelling utilised national, state and client data sets using best practice approaches to hospital demand analysis.
The results of the analysis were utilised by Mater Health Services for an internal business case proposing the establishment of the private hospital and resulted in the acquisition of land at Springfield.
RPS was subsequently engaged to update the detailed modelling of private hospital demand in the Springfield area. This update included adjustments to the primary and secondary catchment used in the model, updated population estimates and more accurate SRG separation assumptions. In addition to adult separations, chemotherapy and children's day separations were also modelled. The results were used by Mater to inform internal operational service modelling and business planning to support the construction and delivery of the private hospital in Springfield.
