The 'vertical village' concept is growing in popularity nationwide, and RPS has assisted Stockland with planning, approvals and project management for one of the Sunshine Coast’s first such developments - Oceanside Retirement Village.

Now under construction, Oceanside Retirement Village represents an exciting departure from the traditional independent living village model – providing 140 one, two and three bedroom unit configurations over an eight storey resort-style complex. 

Community connections all part of the plan at Oceanside

Proximity to services and community amenities are a key feature of the project, and once complete Oceanside Retirement Village will enjoy close proximity to the Kawana Health Precinct and new Sunshine Coast University Hospital. The development will also be next door to the Opal Kawana Waters aged are service, providing an avenue for Oceanside residents to transition into higher care accommodation as required.

Local experience yields positive planning results

RPS’ Urban Planning team provided end-to-end consultancy to ensure Council support for the development, and our long-standing involvement in the planning and delivery of Stockland’s adjacent Birtinya and Bokarina residential communities has helped ensure a smooth development application process.

Having already assisted Stockland’s Residential Communities division to obtain higher order master plan approvals for the Health Precinct, RPS was able to guide Stockland’s Retirement division through the unique planning process and ensure a timely site development plan approval was achieved. 

Initial planning advice in relation to permitted yield, development density, height and compliance with a range of specific urban design performance criteria informed initial feasibility studies, enabling Stockland to move forward with confidence.
