RPS has provided key advice and guidance on procurement methodology and strategy to deliver Project Xpand – an expansion of Newcastle Airport to provide an additional 2,600m2 (approx.) of terminal space and refurbishment of the existing terminal and facilities, valued at $14.5 million.
The expansion works will accommodate increased passenger movements and will enable the Airport to cater for the possible introduction of short-haul international flights.
In order to ensure RPS works met Newcastle Airport Pty Limited’s (NAPL) requirements within critical time and budget constraints and in the context of a highly complex operational environment, the project was delivered under a design development and construction methodology. Early contractor involvement meant necessary milestones associated with project funding could be met and completion was achieved in 2015.
RPS was also engaged by head contractor Hansen Yuncken for all Surveying and Mapping services for the initial stage of the expansion including construction setout and Work As Executed Survey.
