Investigation of Reported Burial Mound Hammond Island Torres Strait QLD

RPS was engaged by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Land Services to undertake a ground penetrating radar (GPR) survey of one land parcel on Hammond Island, Queensland to ascertain the location of unmarked potential human burials. The survey area was adjacent to the main village road near the boundary of two adjacent properties where an access road to a third property is being considered for realignment. It contained a sand dune possibly containing human remains.
